Introducing our newest monthly highlight: Impossible Stories – When you achieved what you thought was impossible in your life. ⁣⁣

Up first is Ellen Miller’s inspiring story. Ellen’s advice for anyone is to NEVER GIVE UP. “You will be surprised what you can achieve if you just put one foot in front of the other. I am now working on getting my GED. I grew up Amish and only got an 8th-grade education. The first year I left many years ago, I tried to get it, but didn’t have my heart in it and failed. I have decided now is the time!” Continue on to see the rest of Ellen’s story.

Q: What was your “impossible” – the thing you thought you would never be able to do?

A: Well it’s kinda hard for me to answer these because I accomplished my first 3:59 and am now working on another. But my original 3:59 was to run five 5Ks plus a half marathon.

Q: Why did you think you’d never be able to do it? What was standing in your way?

A: The reason it was an impossible to me was due to health issues. I had a double mastectomy, reconstruction, and a complete Hysterectomy in 2018 – three surgeries in 6 months time. There were days it was a challenge just to walk to the mailbox. I had never owned a Fitbit or had a membership to a gym, so when I set those goals they looked impossible, but with God’s grace and the best family and friends cheering me on, I did it!

Q: When and how did you end up achieving it?

A: I only got to run one of my races in the usual way, all the rest were run in virtual style. I said more then once it’s a good thing I didn’t know what 2020 was gonna be like when I started. I had a lot of lonely miles but also a lot of good miles. I have also done two 10Ks and a few more 5Ks.

Q: What piece of advice would you give to those who may be feeling like they have an “impossible” they want to conquer?

A: My advice for anyone is NEVER GIVE UP. You will be surprised what you can achieve if you just put one foot infront of the other. I am now working on getting my GED. I grew up Amish and only got a 8th grade education. The first year I left, many years ago, I tried to get it, but didn’t have my heart in it and failed. But I have decided now is the time. I have passed all subjects except math. I had never been taught algebra and it’s giving me a rough way to go but my next 3:59 is to have that diploma in my hands by the end of this year!
